Sew Sweet Bee 2016

In looking through my blog the last few days, I realized that I would start a post about a project and never post again about it. Doh!

In 2016, I was asked to join a "Sew Sweet Bee". I only posted a couple of times about it and never continued. In a "Bee", you have 11 members that join. Each member is given a month where they are the "Queen Bee" and ask the other members to make a block for them. The pattern must be a free one. It cannot be a purchased pattern due to copyright issues. When the block is completed, the members mail it to the Queen Bee. The Queen Bee will have 10 completed blocks to help start a quilt. Fun, fun, fun!!

Here are the blocks that I made for the members in 2016!!

January Block! The pattern for this Sail Away block can be found here at the Fat Quarter Shop's Blog. Just scroll down to Block 11.

I was the Queen for February and asked for this Heart block by Allison of Cluck Cluck Sew! I asked for the 10" sized block. I thought it would be perfect to ask the ladies in the Bee if they would help me with a Valentine quilt! I love every block. And how perfect that 5 were red and 5 were pink!!

March Block! The Star Surround block pattern can be found here. Just scroll down to the Star Surround quilt along and you'll see links that will take you to each step of the block.

April Block! This Strawberry Block can be found on Lori Holt's Farm Girl Vintage book on page 59. Because this is not a free pattern I can only post a link to the book.

May Block! This Honey Bee block can be found here on the Why Not Sew blog. So so pretty!! This was my first time doing any type of applique!!

June Block! This Colorado Beauty block can be found here. I really loved the colors that the Queen asked for. It turned out really pretty!

July Block! This Rising Star block is so pretty! Sadly there is no link to this pattern ever since Craftsy revamped their site!

August Block! This Layer Cake block can be found on Lori Holt's blog here. Just scroll down the page a bit to find the free link to the PDF. So cute and yummy!!

September Block! This Hope Chest quilt pattern is so pretty. I just love it!! The free pattern can be found here on Riley Blake's page. You'll have to scroll down about a quarter of the way down to find this pattern.

October Block!  This Maple Leaf block is perfect for a fall quilt!! The tutorial for this block can be found on YouTube here!! Amanda is very easy to understand and follow!!

The Queen for November did not want to receive any blocks. Very sad about that!!

And there you have it, friends!! These are all the blocks that I made for the Queen Bee's on their given month. They were so much fun to make!!  Stay tuned cause I will be posting the blocks for our Sew Sweet Bee 2017 that I've made so far!!

Have a great day and God Bless!!
